Die Brüder Grimm, Jacob und Wilhelm Grimm, sind als Sprachwissenschaftler und Sammler von Märchen (Grimms Märchen) bekannt. Sie gelten gemeinsam mit Karl Lachmann und Georg Friedrich Benecke als „Gründungsväter“ der Deutschen Philologie bzw. Germanistik.
Jacob Grimm wurde am 4. Januar 1785 und Wilhelm Grimm wurde am 24. Februar 1786 in Hanau geboren. Die bedeutendste Werke: „Kinder- und Hausmärchen“(1812)
„Deutsche Sagen“ (1816), „Irische Elfenmärchen“ (1826), „Deutsche Mythologie“ (1835), „Deutsches Wörterbuch“ (1854), „Deutsche Grammatik“ (1819).
„Der Rattenfänger von Hameln“ ist eine der bekanntesten deutschen Sagen. Thema: In einem Märchen von Brüder Grimm geht es um einen Rattenfänger, der wegen der Gier der Bürger ihre Kinder weggeführt hat.
Die Idee: das Böse - die habgierige und lügenhafte Bürger wurden bestrafft.
